Nubia Z80 Ultra 16GB+1TB Price Drop: Flagship Performance Unleashed
Why do so many consumers prioritize 16GB+512GB or 16GB+1TB configurations when choosing a high-end smartphone? The core reason is to fully unlock the value of these flagship devices. If you choose the standard version, the performance of these flagships cannot be fully released. In contrast, the top-tier versions come with industry-leading RAM and storage, offering ample headroom, which often results in stronger overall performance.
However, observant users have noticed that as storage chip costs rise, many high-end phones launched this year have become increasingly expensive in their large-memory variants. Especially among major brands, the price difference between 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB versions can reach 1,000 yuan. Under these circumstances, many consumers are unwilling to buy at launch. Combined with the homogenization seen in many high-end models this year, more users have become part of the so-called “wait-and-see crowd,” believing prices will drop over time.
And that is exactly what has happened. By mid-December, many high-end smartphones powered by the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition chip have seen continuous price cuts. The Nubia Z80 Ultra shown here is a typical example. Launched in October this year, its 16GB+1TB version debuted at 5699 yuan. Now, Nubia has gone all out: on JD.com, even without national subsidies, the price has dropped to 5189 yuan, marking a new low. The 16GB+512GB version has also been reduced to 4799 yuan, offering excellent value for money.
Objectively speaking, Nubia’s brand influence is indeed weaker than Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, or vivo. However, in terms of product differentiation and overall execution, this phone stands up well to market scrutiny. Its front features a 6.85-inch true full-screen design, delivering a more stunning visual experience. With no punch-hole, there is no concern about content being blocked during use, whether gaming or scrolling short videos, resulting in a more immersive experience.
By contrast, phones using notch displays, pill-shaped cutouts, or punch-hole designs can lose portions of the image due to the cutout area, especially during gaming, where a small obstruction can lead to failure. From a performance enthusiast’s perspective, the Nubia Z80 Ultra is very friendly. It uses a BOE X10 luminous material display with a 144Hz esports-grade refresh rate and a 3000Hz touch sampling rate. While delivering fine visual quality, it also supports 2592Hz high-frequency PWM dimming for better eye protection. Ultrasonic fingerprint recognition is also included.
As a product from a niche brand, its imaging specifications still meet high-end standards. The rear setup includes a fifth-generation native 35mm custom optical lens, an 18mm golden focal length 50MP large-sensor ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. It supports 3x optical zoom and up to 50x digital zoom. Combined with Taisan Imaging joint tuning, it can confidently handle complex shooting scenarios. In terms of overall imaging capability, the gap compared with Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo is minimal, placing it firmly in the top tier of its class.
In terms of battery life, the Nubia Z80 Ultra also aligns with current flagship trends, featuring a 7200mAh battery. While not the largest in its price segment, such a capacity easily supports a full day of heavy use, and light users can even go two to three days on a single charge. It supports 90W wired fast charging and 80W wireless charging, as well as reverse wireless charging for emergency power sharing. Build quality follows industry standards, with a metal frame, glass back, and IP68+IP69 water resistance for reliable durability.
Of course, the Nubia Z80 Ultra is powered by the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition processor, placing its performance firmly in the industry’s top tier. With system optimization, benchmark scores reach around 3.9 to 4.0 million. It handles demanding 3D games smoothly, thanks to a large-area 3D Ice Steel VC composite liquid metal cooling system. It supports up to 2K+144Hz super-resolution and frame interpolation, delivering smoother gameplay. Master-grade 1115E stereo dual speakers and multifunction NFC further enhance the overall experience.
