Nubia Z80 Ultra: 35mm Dual 50MP Flagship with 7200mAh Battery
At the end of 2025, Nubia brought the upgraded model of its imaging flagship series — the nubia Z80 Ultra. This generation once again pushes imaging and performance to the limit. The signature 35mm main camera is now equipped with a new generation sensor, the ultra-wide lens has also been upgraded, and a photography kit has been added to enhance shooting control. The device features the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a new display, improving gaming control. For endurance, it is equipped with a 7000mAh-class large battery, supporting both upgraded wired fast charging and wireless charging, with prices starting from 4999 yuan.
Starting with the imaging system, the Z80 Ultra features a standard triple-camera setup consisting of “Ultra-Wide + 35mm Main + Periscope Telephoto.” The 35mm main camera uses a 50MP 1/1.3-inch DCG HDR Light Master 990 sensor with an F1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization. The ultra-wide camera uses a 50MP 1/1.55-inch sensor paired with a 7P lens featuring ultra-high-transmittance aspherical glass and an F1.8 aperture, equivalent to an 18mm focal length. The periscope telephoto uses a 64MP 1/2-inch sensor with built-in OIS. The high-resolution sensor allows flexible cropping during telephoto shooting, and optical stabilization ensures stable shots for concerts or distant scenes. The telephoto also supports a 15cm close focusing distance for tele-macro shots, offering a comfortable angle for still-life photography.
All three cameras support 4K 120fps video recording, and each lens is coated with a blue glass IR filter. The phone features a dedicated side shutter button, allowing users to launch the camera instantly by long-pressing, ideal for street photography.
Speaking of street photography, Nubia also offers a dedicated photography kit for this generation. The kit includes a titanium-colored aluminum alloy frame and a tech nano-leather integrated case base. A leather handle can be magnetically and mechanically attached at the bottom to enhance grip for horizontal shooting. The upper section supports the attachment of a Neo Bar smart camera control bar. The kit includes a strap and an interchangeable shutter button, making the Z80 Ultra resemble a rangefinder-style camera. The control bar connects wirelessly to the phone, adding physical dials, a shutter button, and a cold shoe mount for attaching microphones or lights. An independent cold shoe mount is also included, which can be installed directly on the protective case when not using the Neo Bar. The lens area includes a bayonet mount compatible with dedicated lenses, and the kit includes a 67mm filter adapter ring, allowing users to attach ND, CPL, and other camera filters to the phone.
In terms of performance, the Nubia Z80 Ultra is powered by the fifth-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon Ultimate Edition platform, paired with LPDDR5X and UFS 4.1 storage. It achieved an AnTuTu benchmark score of 3,910,368. The phone is equipped with the Red Magic CUBE Sky Engine, featuring AI Super Stable Frame 4.0, AI Super Resolution, and AI Frame Enhancement. Games like Arena Breakout support 90Hz with full-map ray tracing, and Delta Action and League of Legends support 144Hz. The physical side buttons support half-press, full-press, tap, and release mappings, customizable via the game assistant for enhanced control.
The display has also been upgraded for better gaming response. The Z80 Ultra features a 6.85-inch 2688×1216 144Hz BOE Sky Full Display using X10 luminescent material, supporting a local peak brightness of 2000 nits, 100% DCI-P3, 1.07 billion colors, and ZREAL Ultra-HD certification. Co-developed with Qualcomm, its ultra-clear visual engine ensures excellent display quality under all brightness levels.
For gaming, the display supports a 144Hz refresh rate and 3000Hz instant touch sampling rate. Nubia has upgraded the touch algorithm, improving response speed, precision, and stability, reducing missed touches.
In battery performance, the Z80 Ultra houses a 7200mAh fourth-generation Nanhai battery, supporting 90W wired charging and 80W wireless charging, plus reverse wireless charging. In real-world tests, it maintained 77–78W input power, charging from 0–100% in about 50–51 minutes, with minimal difference from the official figures, reducing charger dependency.
Design-wise, the Z80 Ultra continues Nubia’s squared Z-series aesthetic. It features an IP68 rating and a DECO modular layout divided into upper and lower halves: the upper houses the main, ultra-wide, and ring light modules, while the lower contains the periscope telephoto and nubia logo. It comes in three color variants: Phantom Black, Glazed White, and the permanent “Starry Collector’s Edition,” plus a new Luo Tianyi Limited Edition.
The limited edition uses red as the main tone, featuring Luo Tianyi’s exclusive logo on the lower DECO section. It includes exclusive startup, unlock, charging animations, and wallpapers. Sold as a collector’s box set, it contains the phone, figurine, protective case, charger, SIM ejector tool, and charging accessories.
