RedMagic 11 Air ICE 4.0 Cooling Test: Stable 120FPS & 144FPS Gaming
The RedMagic 11 Air’s ICE 4.0 active cooling fan delivers ultra-fast cooling at 24,000 RPM. In real-world gaming tests, Genshin Impact maintains a rock-solid 120 FPS, while Honor of Kings runs smoothly at 144 FPS without stutter, with the device temperature reaching only 39.2°C. Powerful cooling allows the Snapdragon 8 Elite to perform at full capacity, completely eliminating thermal throttling.
In the gaming smartphone segment, cooling performance is one of the key factors affecting the overall gaming experience. The RedMagic 11 Air is equipped with the ICE 4.0 active cooling fan, which, thanks to its ultra-high rotational speed and outstanding heat dissipation capability, has become a crucial component for enhancing gaming performance.
The ICE 4.0 active cooling fan in the RedMagic 11 Air reaches speeds of up to 24,000 RPM. It adopts a new high–low blade differential design, increasing airflow and air pressure by 21% and expanding the airflow coverage area by 40%, allowing internal heat to be expelled more efficiently. At the same time, the dustproof structure has been upgraded, improving dust resistance by 30%, while noise reduction has been optimized, achieving a 50% improvement in quiet operation. This ensures efficient cooling without disrupting the player’s immersive gaming experience.
In terms of gaming stability, the ICE 4.0 active cooling fan plays a vital role. Under high-load gaming scenarios, the chipset generates a significant amount of heat. If heat is not dissipated in time, the chip will automatically downclock due to overheating, leading to frame rate drops and stuttering. With the cooling fan working in conjunction with an aerospace-grade aluminum air-cooling bracket and an ultra-thick stepped VC vapor chamber, heat is rapidly transferred away from the chip and distributed across the device, preventing localized overheating.
In real tests of Genshin Impact at maximum graphics with 120 FPS enabled, after one hour of continuous gameplay, frame rates remained stable between 118–120 FPS with no noticeable fluctuations. The 1% low frame rate stayed above 105 FPS, demonstrating that the cooling system ensures stable performance output even under sustained high loads, keeping gameplay consistently smooth.
Under the extreme graphics settings of Honor of Kings at 144 FPS, the average frame rate reached 144.7 FPS, with a frame stability index of 0.1, and the 1% low frame rate still measured 121.9 FPS. Frame rate fluctuations throughout the match were minimal, making frame drops virtually imperceptible to players. This performance is attributed to effective temperature control by the ICE 4.0 cooling fan, allowing the phone to continuously operate in high-performance mode and maintain stable frame rates.
From the perspective of overall performance improvement, the ICE 4.0 cooling fan works in tandem with other thermal components to increase the RedMagic 11 Air’s heat dissipation efficiency by 47%. Efficient cooling enables the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor to unleash its full performance potential, avoiding limitations caused by thermal throttling.
For example, in Honkai: Star Rail, a title with demanding performance requirements, the RedMagic 11 Air achieves an average frame rate of 60.8 FPS during intensive map traversal, with a frame stability index of 0.2 and a 1% low frame rate of 53.8 FPS, demonstrating strong performance output. In addition, effective cooling helps reduce power consumption. In Honor of Kings, average power consumption is 2.84W, with per-frame energy usage reduced to under 20mW, achieving a solid balance between performance and efficiency.
Furthermore, the ICE 4.0 cooling fan improves in-hand comfort and overall user experience. After a 30-minute Honkai: Star Rail test session, the maximum temperature on the back of the device measured only 39.2°C. Heat was mainly concentrated around the rear fan area, while other parts of the device remained cool. This significantly reduces discomfort caused by heat during extended gaming sessions, allowing players to stay focused on the game itself.
Overall, the ICE 4.0 active cooling fan of the RedMagic 11 Air delivers a substantial boost to gaming performance. By effectively controlling device temperature, it greatly improves gameplay stability, reduces frame drops and stuttering, and allows the smartphone to sustain high performance output over extended periods. At the same time, it optimizes power consumption and enhances grip comfort, giving the RedMagic 11 Air a stronger competitive edge in the gaming smartphone market.
