RedMagic 11 Air Review: Thin, Powerful & Built for Gaming

Every time I see a phone model with the "Air" suffix, it always makes my heart skip a beat. These days, "Air" has almost become synonymous with spec cuts and castration — performance shrunk, battery life discounted, design knockoffs, and consumers always have to make some compromises when choosing. Returning to the Red Magic 11 Air itself, its appearance and looks are absolutely the kind that grab your eyes at first glance. Speaking of "thin," the Red Magic 11 Air carries on the 7.85mm of the previous generation 10 Air, the thickness hasn't changed, but you have to know that this generation has a built-in active cooling fan stuffed inside, and the battery capacity will have a surprise when I introduce it later~

Snapdragon 8 Elite + cooling fan, who says Air performance is weak?

Air or not, when it comes to performance experience, Red Magic never drags its feet. The processor steps up to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, paired with LPDDR5X ULTRA memory + UFS 4.1 flash storage.

Next comes the exciting real-world gaming testing segment. Following convention, first up is 30 minutes of Genshin Impact Sumeru City exploration — the Red Magic 11 Air handles it with complete ease, with game frame rate staying stable around 60fps throughout.

The final data is also very impressive: average frame rate maxed out at 60fps, 1% Low frames at an astonishing 56.6fps, frame rate variance (fluctuation) of 0.2 frames, overall average power consumption of 5.07W, and the device's maximum body temperature at the end of the gaming session was 45.2℃.

When it came to the heavier load of Honkai: Star Rail's "Moment of Gold" map exploration, the Red Magic 11 Air once again proved its gaming credentials — checking the frame rate curve, there were only some minor frame rate fluctuations after 19 minutes into the game.

Although there were some minor frame rate fluctuations, the final average frame rate still reached a full 60fps, 1% Low frames at 28.8, frame rate variance (fluctuation) not large at only 4.1 frames, and in order to achieve the ultimate full-frame experience, the 11 Air's overall average power consumption of 8.42W can only be described as brutal — with power consumption going up, the device's maximum body temperature naturally wasn't low either, reaching a staggering 54.9℃! The reason it can hold up against a temperature approaching 55℃ is something that can't go without mentioning — its cooling mastery this time around. In addition to the fan, the Red Magic 11 Air also packs the thickest VC vapor chamber in the industry, adopting Red Magic's exclusive patented dual-sided raised architecture design, with increased contact area, which naturally distributes heat across the entire device faster.
