RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro Review: OLED Display & Elite Gaming Chip

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version chip has been on the market for a while, and many smartphones have adopted it. However, very few tablets use it. As a brand focused on gaming, RedMagic has launched the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro with this chip. It introduces several upgrades over its predecessor and features a compact form factor. So how does it perform? Let’s take a deep dive.

Design: Transparent Aesthetics + Built-In Fan

The RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro continues the brand’s iconic design with a partially transparent rear cover and a built-in RGB cooling fan. While not fully transparent, one side reveals complex circuitry and a bold “Snapdragon 8 Elite” logo, highlighting its gaming DNA.

Though it has a fan, the tablet lacks visible air inlets and outlets. Instead, it uses a 3D internal air circulation cooling system. This setup helps avoid dust buildup and reduces noise, though its cooling effectiveness will be explored further below.

Notably, the rear panel is completely flat—including the camera, which is embedded under the cover—allowing the device to rest stably on surfaces. This is ideal for multi-finger control games like Beat Master.

On the front, the 9.06-inch screen is compact yet immersive. It’s similar in width to the iPad mini but slightly longer. The bezels are ultra-thin at 4.8mm with symmetrical edges, delivering an excellent screen-to-body ratio and visual symmetry.

It features an OLED display—a rarity among tablets. Compared to the LCDs typically used in tablets, OLED offers higher brightness, contrast, and image quality. The screen peaks at 1100 nits, with a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 165Hz refresh rate at a 2400x1504 resolution. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button rather than under the display.

A physical “Game Switch” slider is embedded in the side frame, enabling quick access to RedMagic’s gaming space.

Performance: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Edition, Ultra Stable

As mentioned, the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version, paired with LPDDR5T RAM and UFS 4.1 storage—forming a top-tier “performance triangle.” In AnTuTu V10, it scores 2.93 million points, aligning closely with flagship smartphones.

In the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test, which simulates long-term high-load gaming, the tablet scored 6141 in the best loop, with a stability rate of 89.2%—showcasing sustained performance.

After 20 rounds of stress testing, surface temperatures reached 48°C. While hot to the touch, this reflects its commitment to sustained performance under load.

In real-world gaming tests with Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, the chip handled both games smoothly. Under max settings and 60fps in a 25°C room, Genshin Impact averaged 60.9 fps with 1% low at 51.3 fps. Power consumption reached 6.07W.

After 30 minutes, screen and rear temps were just 37.0°C and 37.7°C—relatively cool for gaming.

Honkai: Star Rail was tested under extreme settings, with an average frame rate of 60.9 fps and 1% low at 56.4 fps. Power consumption increased to 9.35W, and rear temps reached 48.8°C. However, due to strategic component placement, the hot zone is isolated from hand contact areas, keeping handling comfort acceptable.

The internal fan, combined with VC cooling plates and liquid metal between CPU and battery components, ensures quick heat dissipation. This multilayered cooling is aimed at maximizing sustained performance—delivering uncompromised gaming.

Battery, Touch & Control Experience

Despite the fan, it includes a large 8200mAh battery, exceeding most tablets of similar size, and supports 80W fast charging.

Touch responsiveness is enhanced with a new Synaptics chip, offering a 2000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. This enables ultra-fast response times even with sweaty fingers—beneficial in racing games like QQ Speed.

Conclusion: Best-in-Class Small Gaming Tablet

The RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro continues RedMagic’s tradition of integrating e-sports-level features into a compact tablet—flat rear design, internal cooling fan, and central thermal zones placed away from finger contact areas.

Its greatest advantage over smartphones using the same chip is its long-term stability during gaming sessions. Combined with a large screen, it provides an experience that smartphones simply can’t match.

Beyond gaming, its compact size, symmetrical speakers, and display quality make it ideal for watching videos or light work on the go. It’s an all-around powerhouse in a small package.
