Unlike the previous positioning of a “large gaming phone,” this new product temporarily named REDMAGIC Gaming Tablet 5 Pro seems to want to bring the concept of a “handheld console” into reality—using phone-level portability to challenge PC-level gaming experience.

From the currently exposed poster, REDMAGIC is firmly taking the “small-size esports” route this time, and the screen will most likely be locked at around 9 inches. This size is by no means decided casually, but precisely targets the core pain points of mobile gamers: phone screens are too small and the field of view is limited; tablets above 11 inches are bulky to hold, and wrists become sore after half an hour. In terms of core configuration, the REDMAGIC Gaming Tablet 5 Pro will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen5 processor, which is a flagship chip using the third-generation 3nm process, and the energy efficiency ratio has improved significantly compared with the previous generation. Combined with a dual-chip architecture—the main chip is responsible for computing power output, while the independent chip optimizes touch response and frame interpolation—the smoothness of the gaming experience will be directly maximized.

But the real killer feature is still heat dissipation. REDMAGIC has transplanted the mature air–liquid dual cooling system used in its phones to the tablet, and even upgraded it. According to leaks, this tablet will support multiple PC game emulators and can smoothly run 3A titles such as Tomb Raider and Cyberpunk 2077. This means it is no longer a “large gaming phone,” but a real handheld console, breaking the device barrier between mobile games and PC games. Compared with handhelds such as Steam Deck, the REDMAGIC Gaming Tablet 5 Pro is more lightweight, and the operation is also more in line with the habits of mobile gamers—it can be operated by touch or connected to an external controller. For light 3A players, it is more portable than a gaming laptop and has a richer game lineup than the Switch, making it a brand-new choice.
