Products like phone coolers have been around for a few years now, and their purpose is probably well known to everyone. When playing games on a phone for a long time at high settings, such as high graphics quality, the phone may experience overheating, which may cause the game to run sluggishly. However, if a phone cooler is used, this situation can be alleviated or even resolved to a certain extent.

This article will bring you a simple review of a phone cooler, the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro, a new model of phone cooler launched by the Chinese brand RedMagic. This cooler is divided into two versions: one is a magnetic suction version, and the other is the clip-on version discussed in this article.

To be honest, I think RedMagic is quite skilled in producing products like phone coolers. Each new model they release has some improvements and highlights, such as the cooling power of the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro, which has been increased to 27W compared to the previous model, representing better cooling efficiency.

In terms of appearance, the overall design of the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro gives me a hardcore mechanical style, and currently, only the silver color shown in the article is available.

Compared to the magnetic suction version, the clip-on version of the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro does not support the use of the "RedMagic Equipment Library" app. Therefore, the overall operation is through the button on the device. A single click switches the cooling mode, while a long press switches the RGB lighting effect.

The RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro adopts the RedMagic fourth-generation semiconductor cooling technology, supplemented by custom TEC semiconductors, alloy heat sinks, a 5400 RPM fan, and innovative suspended air ducts, all of which ensure that the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro has excellent cooling performance and speed.

Also, because the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro adopts an upward and downward air outlet design, the hot air will not blow to the left or right hand positions when installed on the phone, avoiding hand sweat and hot hand problems.

The power interface of the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro is Type-C. Oh, and there is no power button, built-in power supply, or Hall switch for the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro. It will start working as soon as it is powered on.

The RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro is also compatible with phones with a thickness of 70-85mm, and the contact position of the clamp with the phone uses a new type of trapezoidal silicone pad, which will not cause any problems with the buttons.

The RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro also has RGB lighting effects. Personally, I am not very interested in this design because, in terms of practicality, RGB lighting effects are only good-looking and can bring a so-called e-sports atmosphere or increase the viewing value in the crowd. But something is better than nothing. What if some users like this design?

Now let me test the cooling effect of the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro. The current temperature in the test environment is 22.1℃. After five minutes of operation, I used an infrared thermometer to measure the temperature at the center of the cooling area of the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro, and the result was -3.5°C. After ten minutes of operation, I measured the same position with the infrared thermometer again, and the result was -6.5°C. However, after 15 minutes of operation, I found that the cooling area of the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro had a thin layer of frost. Since this test is not professional, the above test results are for reference only, and the results are affected by the environment. Moreover, this is a test with no load. But anyway, it's almost summer in April, and the fact that the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro can freeze to some extent indicates that its cooling effect is good.

As for the experience of using it on a mobile phone, let me put it this way. A mobile game that I used to play could only run on high-definition graphics (there are a total of five levels, and high-definition is the third level). Playing at higher graphics settings for a long time would cause pressure, but after installing the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro, the problem of lag during long-term gaming has improved significantly. Moreover, after finishing the game and removing the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro, the area of the phone covered by the cooling area was still very cold.

That's all for the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro. Overall, my experience with it is pretty good, but there is one design feature that I think is slightly inadequate, which is that it does not support app operation. According to the order of release, the previously released RedMagic Turbine Cooling Back Clip supports app operation, but the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro does not. Although button operation is more convenient, supporting app operation would make the experience more rich.

Also, as for whether it's worth buying, I think if you frequently use your phone to play games and like to play on high graphics settings, then it's worth buying, and the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro is reasonably priced and has high power. If you don't like playing games on your phone or only play occasionally, then you may think the RedMagic Back Clip Cooler 4 Pro is useless because you don't understand the needs of people like me who like to play games on their phones with high graphics settings.
